I’m gonna come right out and say it: I love this manicure. I am so pleased that I have all my swatching done for the next week because it means I can wear this manicure until it chips (and usually I’m itching to take manicures off but figure I need to wear them for a couple days at least to make the effort worth it). See lots more pictures (both hands!) and the details after the break.
The gorgeous multichrome base on these nails is 3 coats of Colors by Llarowe – Midnight in Montana, and it shifts from purple to blue to a beautiful green teal. The teal was camera shy in the light tent, but there’s a picture that captures it pretty well on my instagram. I wish I was a better photographer to show you the shifting in this polish, because it is distractingly beautiful. As I’m typing this, my nails look half green and half purple, and I keep pausing to stare at them. And post them to instagram again. The stamping is Maybelline ColorShow – Bold Gold which finally decided to cooperate with me, and the plate is Moyou Fashonista 11 which has an endless variety of paisley swirls to choose from.
I tried really hard to show off the multichrome.
But nothing I did made my camera take notice.
Even my right hand couldn’t convince my camera that there was green there (and do you know how many blurry shots I took of my right hand? My camera is seriously right-hand dominant.).
I took rather a lot of pictures of this.
I am utterly smitten. Please ignore the cat hairs here; my cat fell off his cat tree and needed comforting while I was in the middle of my photo shoot. He’s just fine.
This is also the first time I’ve gotten Bold Gold to stamp properly. It was a little finicky, and I tried three stampers and two scrapers to get it to work (it liked the old stand-by stamper, and the new Starbucks card scraper), but I have tried to use this one at least three times in the past and have never managed to get past the first nail. My theory is that it was too bloody hot in the apartment and it was drying way too fast to get a clean pick-up and transfer (of course, the shimmery quick-dry gold I used instead worked like a charm during the same conditions).
I got the Maybelline ColorShow – Bold Gold on ebay (but I think you can still get it in drug stores). Colors by llarowe can be found at llarowe and Harlow and Co but I believe my beautiful Midnight in Montana is out of stock. They have plenty of other polishes to get you into trouble though, so they’re worth a look anyway. And finally, MoYou Fashonista 11 is from the glorious nail art company MoYou London, which I may as well just send my bank information to, because I really just want everything they sell and they release new stuff that I covet every week.
So what do you think? Will you let me know if you find a hidden stash of the Colors by llarowe multichromes from this fall? Who makes your favorite multichrome, and what is it? Let me know all about it in the comments!
Lovely manicure! And poor cat, haha! I have this multichromatic top coat from Sally Hansen, Crystal Beading, which I really love. W7 Metallic Jupiter is a favourite as well.
Eva recently posted…Velvet Skittlette (and mini review)
Hi Eva! Thanks so much. I’ll have to check out those two. I’m such a sucker for multi- and duochromes. I would not be upset if you replaced every bad stamping creme in my collection with a shifting polish. :)
i totally understand your love for this mani! The Llarowe is gorgeous, even if your camera couldn’t capture it’s full potential! Wishing I had bought that one!! And the gold stamping pops amazingly off the blue. And I’m with you, I should send MoYou London my banking info too. It would save us both some time every week! <3
