Spread Indie Love is an Instagram movement that was created to counter the negativity that was running rampant in the indie nail polish community about a year ago. Each month, an indie maker is chosen to shower with love by doing manicures made with their polishes, and posting them with the hashtag for that maker and #spreadindielove.
February is Superficially Colorful month for Spread Indie Love, and my good friend Hadas reminded me that I actually have something from this brand. It’s been sitting in my untrieds (which is not a separate physical space, unless you count the orange stickers on the bottles) for a good long while, so I figured it was time to use it.
This is two very quick and easy coats of Breathe, a limited edition polish from the Lighthouse of Hope Charity Fundraiser box which is still available as of this writing. Most of the proceeds from the box go to the group I Need a Lighthouse, which has a depression and suicide education awareness program. Suffering from depression myself, I scooped up this box immediately, since what could be better than polish and support? Polish is definitely one thingay that helps lift my mood too. More information about I Need a Lighthouse can be found here.
I added some simple white dots in a curved pattern (mirrored on my opposite hand). This is probably the simplest nail art I’ve ever done, but I like it quite a lot. Each nail was dotted with only one “dip” of the dotting tool into polish, so they naturally get smaller from base to tip. This would be simple enough to do with the head of a pin, a toothpick (though your dots would be teeny), or the back end of a paint brush if you don’t have dotting tools.
Let me know what you think. :)
This looks awesome!!!!! And very cheerful looking!
Makes me think of spring, as I listen to the forecast for 20 cm. of snow tomorrow!
Haha, Shamus said it reminded him of Frozen, rather than spring. Glad you like it, Mom. :)
