I have a small limited edition collection today from the Sally Beauty exclusive brand, Finger Paints. This is the Fall 2014 collection, called Masquerade Affair, and I blame every other blogger who has swatched it for my lack of restraint, and also give them my thanks. I love every colour in this collection, and I wanted to keep every one of them on my fingers while I was swatching. See more photos of these gorgeous lacquers after the break.
This is Masked Beauty, a shimmery gold polish with bronze/copper flakes that feels like pure richness on your nails. This is two easy coats with top coat.
As you can see, you need to scrub a bit to clean up all those beautiful bronze flake bits, but they really make this a special gold. You can bet I’ll be wearing this one around the holidays.
Next up is Ball Gown Glamour, an enchanting emerald green shimmer with gold flecks. It has a nice formula, and good coverage. This is two coats with top coat.
You can see I still have a little bit of fleck debris around my nails in the close-up, but it’s a lot cleaner than with Masked Beauty.
Queen For A Night is an incredible sapphire blue with gold and green flecks. This is two coats with top coat. There is a very weak green to purple duochrome, but I don’t think I managed to catch it in any of my photos. Sapphire is my birthstone, so I have a soft spot for this one.
The formula on this one was a bit on the thicker side, but still easily workable. Watch for a little bit of staining when you’re doing your clean up or removal. I haven’t worn this one for any length of time yet, so I don’t know how bad it is for the nail plate, but my skin wanted to stay a pretty blue just a little bit. My hands get blue enough in the cold of autumn, I don’t need any help!
This rich royal purple is Dance Til Dawn, and it has beautiful gold flecks in it. This is my favorite in the collection, and my notes are a little incoherent with gushing about how pretty it is. I did manage to record that this is two coats with top coat, and it has a thick formula, but still very workable.
Look at those flecks! That rich purple! This one is high on my list for full manicure shades right now. I felt very special when I had it on my nails for these pictures.
This whole collection is a win for me. I wasn’t originally going to get them all, I only had my eye on Queen For A Night and Ball Gown Glamour, but I was having a rough day, and Sandra from my Friday Friend’s Fingers series told me she was going to be near a Sally Beauty Supply, and did I need anything, and well, now I own all four of them and a few more nail files. Speaking of Sandra, check back on Friday to see what I did for her Halloween week manicure using one of my favorite orange polishes.
Do you have anything from this collection yet? Sadly, I don’t see it on the website anymore, but you might still be able to pick it up in store at Sally Beauty. I really don’t know. Let me know what you think in the comments.
