Happy New Year, dear reader! I hope your holiday season was relaxing and invigorating and you got everything you wanted, or at least the gift money to get it for yourself! Sandra’s manicure today includes one of the polishes I insisted my husband buy for me (by which I mean I bought it for myself and then let him hold onto it until Christmas morning), and a polish I got earlier in the month that I’ve been meaning to swatch. December had a lot of bare nails for me, so I’m hoping to see a bit more colour on them this month. Can you guess which was which? See if you were right after the break.
Sandra wanted something sparkly for the party she was going to on New Years Eve, so she pawed through my swatch sticks and I showed her some online swatches, and she eventually decided on these two. On her index and little fingers, she hasĀ 3 coats of a polish I won in a #nailglossip chat giveaway on Twitter, I Love Nail Polish brand – Mutagen (H). I was given free reign over any four polishes in stock, which was so exciting for me. I seriously wiggled frantically in my chair when I won. It’s a new to me brand, and while I have only just started using the polishes, I am pretty sure I’m going to have an embarrassingly large collection of their stuff as soon as I can convince my husband manage it. Multi-chromes are my favorite!
These nails are stamped with BMC Stamping Polish – 10 (purple) and Born Pretty stamping plate – BP-21. I tried using a normal black polish, but the lines are so delicate that I had trouble picking up a clean image. Needs more practice or maybe a different stamper.
On her middle and ring fingers, I indulged Sandra in two coats of the shiniest polish in the world (personal opinion not verified), Cirque Colors – Mirror, Mirror. Photography is a harsh judge, and this looked a lot more opaque in person, and certainly the shininess distracts from any bare patches. Next time I might use the sponge technique to get more flakies and less clear polish on the nail, though it was definitely workable this way. She told me that some day when I’m feeling sad, I need to polish all of my fingers in this stuff, so that I can be completely distracted by the shiny and then I won’t feel sad anymore.
As of this writing, there are still some bottles of Mirror, Mirror in stock here, but I saw on social media somewhere that Cirque says this will be the last restock, so act quickly if you want it!
Finally, we put a coat of OPI – Snow Globe-trotter over the Mutagen (H) on her thumbs, and I made Sandra laugh by insisting on fishing for some larger glitters to place individually. She told me her nails were quite a hit at the party, and she obviously loved how shiny they were when I did them, so I am well satisfied with this one. How do you like it? Did you have your nails done up all fancy like for New Years?
