Thursday was Sandra’s birthday, so of course I did her nails in a celebratory style. We couldn’t find a birthday cake plate in my entire collection, so we went with multi-coloured cupcakes instead. Of course, the day after we painted these, I found my birthday cake plate. Go figure. See all the fabulous colours we used and more pictures after the break.
We started out with two coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Go For Gold. It’s a well behaved polish and nearly opaque in one coat, but I used two to clean up my edges a little more and to make sure the lighting wasn’t playing tricks on my eyes. Next up was an obligatory coat of Deborah Lippmann – Happy Birthday on the ring fingers. In case you’re wondering, Sandra’s skin started having a reaction to her ring sizer, which is why she’s not wearing her rings these days.
The cupcakes came from MoYou London – Cookbook 07, and were stamped in Sally Hansen Insta-Dri – Rapid Red, Brisk Blue, Presto Pink, and I-rush Luck. The green was the only one that didn’t come out too well, which surprised me as I was certain I had seen others using it for stamping in the past. Of course, we topped it all off with holographic gold glitter from The Hungry Asian – Dream House.
A small group of us went out for teppan-yaki to celebrate her birthday, which was wonderful and exciting. I love watching the chefs juggle eggs on their spatulas, even though I’m wincing the whole time waiting for the egg to go flying into someone’s face. No cupcakes were served, but a bunch of us had green tea ice cream. I had leftovers from my meal, but I had ice cream anyway because there’s always room for green tea ice cream.
How do you like the nails? Have you ever had teppan-yaki before? Do you have any idea what I’m yammering on about? I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
