I was going to show some China Glaze today, but then I realized that my hot pink shirt was reflecting in a bunch of the nails, making it look like everything had terrible bald spots at the cuticle. Apparently I need to go buy some more black shirts for blogging in! Conveniently, I had some swatches sitting around waiting for their turn, and I threw them all together for your viewing pleasure. See more pictures and my thoughts on each after the break.
First up is the incredibly lovely Amazonian from Sinful. Amazonian is a very blackened microglitter that is captivating on my nails. The first coat is a bit streaky, but it is pure love on the second.
I did get a few sheer spots showing up when I went outside to take pictures, but they’re fairly subtle. There isn’t any top coat on this, the Gel Tech formula of the SinfulShine line is to thnk for that glossiness.
This is three easy coats of the blogger sweetheart, SinfulShine Prosecco, with only the slightest hint of nail line showing through. It is a gorgeously flattering greyed nude with incredible gold shimmer. I was really glad when this showed up at RiteAid, since I was kicking myself for putting it back on the shelf when I saw it at Walgreens a month or two before.
I actually entirely forgot to do cleanup with this swatch, and you can see that on the edges of my fingers, but I obviously needed no work at the cuticle. It was very easy to control. If you don’t mind a sheer polish, this one was pretty even on the first coat with no obvious streaks or patches.
Here we have evidence of my obsession with orange polish, in the frosty Revlon – Tangerine. This is three uneventful coats with no top coat. I didn’t notice those uneven bubbly bits when I was taking pictures, but there they are. There is still evidence of VNL, but that’s mostly on my hard to cover little finger nail.
This photo is a little dark, but it shows of the shimmer in a way that gives me the grabby hands. I love me some shimmery orange. I love it good.
And finally, we have a polish I picked up for $1.60 at Big Lots, which is an incredible magenta shimmer, OPI Purple-opolis. It’s got a thin formula and wants to flood my cuticles, but it’s fine if you’re careful not to get too close. The first coat was very even, but it was sheer. This is two coats without top coat, and there was a tiny bit of VNL on that pesky little finger again.
I really like this shade. It somehow feels really classy for such a bright magenta (this is in no way “purple,” OPI), but I might just be weird.
So I think the theme of this post was “there’s little enough visible nail line left for me to be bothered to do another coat.” I really didn’t intend that at the start. The two SinfulShine colours are available at RiteAid in the non-core displays, the Revlon shade is part of core, and I honestly have no idea about the OPI shade, but I expect it is discontinued since I picked it up so cheaply at Big Lots. Do you have or like any of these shades? Planning to hunt any down? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to hear from you.
